Direct Mail Services

The Direct Mail Service allows advertisers to reach all members of the Society with an exclusive mailing of their own material whenever extra impact is required. Rates stay the same for 2009 at just £200 per 1,000 plus postage.

The Society's list of members is updated daily. Members receive postings on a regular basis and returned copies cause the record to be 'flagged' to prevent wasted mailings. Changes are notified quickly, and it is a dynamic, current list without duplication.

The Society is not permitted to divulge members' addresses to a third party, so it may not sell or broker its list. It can, however, handle mailing requirements on your behalf.

You supply the material, the Society addresses and mails it.

Mailing Quantities

These figures were correct in October 2008 when the total membership was 45,493.

Mailings can have three simple exclusions:

  1. Members currently living overseas: 4,116
  2. Student Subscribers (all studying psychology with an institution recognised by the Society): 6,057 (including 129 overseas)
  3. Affiliates (not qualified psychologists but interested in the subject): 598 (including 29 overseas)
The remaining 34,772 addresses are for qualified psychologists living in the UK.

Subdivisions of the List

The Direct Mail Service is recommended for targeting specific groups within the Society.

These groups focus on many different areas of psychology, and about half the Society's membership belongs to one or more of them.

Mailing can also be sent selectively by geographical area or to members of specific Divisions, Special Groups or Sections of the Society.
